"We needed more money to send our daughter to college."
Karen Poulson's home-based salon business was going well, providing her with a good
income and enabling her to set her own hours. But when her eldest daughter went off
to college, Karen says, "We needed to earn more money to support her - and there was only so much hair I could cut."
