Working for others vs. working for yourself
Corporate America was not for Amanda Mikhael. After
graduating from college with a degree in management,
Amanda took a job running a chain of grocery stores, but
within two years she hated her job and needed to move on.
“I wasn’t satisfied at all.”
Amanda found another high-paying job working as a loan
officer and thought the change of scenery would give her a
new outlook. But it wasn’t long before she found herself in
another rut.
“I discovered that I didn’t like working for someone
else and needed a way out.”
In December 1999, Amanda came across a flyer promoting
the Herbalife business opportunity. She immediately signed up
to be an independent Distributor in hopes that it would lead
her away from a desk job and down the path to freedom and
fulfillment that she desired.
“Within eight months I was confident of our Herbalife
business and quit my job.”
Amanda then committed herself to her Herbalife business
full time, and as they say, the rest is history. Although in
the beginning she had lost a significant amount of weight,
she took her commitment to the products to the next level
and the business skyrocketed. Additionally, she was able to
pay off some personal debt that was stressing her out. As
the business continued to grow, her husband, Nicolas, who
originally wasn’t interested in the business, realized he was
missing out on all the fun. He quit his job working as a dental
technician to join Amanda and working together, the couple
has been able to grow an even bigger business.
“We have replaced our old stressed-out life with a
wonderful life.”
Indeed, now that the couple is averaging $18,000 per month,
they are looking for homes in a warm climate, and they just
bought a new Lexus.
“I can only imagine what our paycheck will be in a
year or two!”
The Mikhaels attribute their success to consistent marketing,
following a mentor and being a mentor. “As a mentor, you
need to be more focused on the goals of your downline than
your own,” Amanda explains. “When you do that, you’ll
automatically achieve yours!”*
